Story
The story picks up from where the first game stopped. Scenarios from the anime are reenacted in the game. If you didn’t play the first game and you aren’t a fan of the anime, you might it hard to keep up with the story. But you’ll still enjoy the game nevertheless.
Gameplay

If you continue playing the game after you complete the story, you can unlock a final character. Each character has their own special attacks that adds a touch of variety to the gameplay. Character transformation was introduced to the series in this game, so your character can transform to various forms. Enemy characters now have bars displaying their stats above their heads, just like what the player character had.
As it was in the previous game, you complete tasks in one location to open up another location. The faster you level up, the faster you can access other game locations. There are also some locations that are specific to some game characters. So, you will have to switch characters to access these locations. You can travel to locations almost whenever you want as opposed to the first game where you could only access locations by following a strict order set by the story.
The game world now contains capsules that could be used to raise energy levels and boost other stats. The graphics and the audio have also improved. The game animations, environments, characters and story now feel more dynamic and vibrant. As a Dragon Ball Z fan, you feel the Dragon Ball Z vibes more from this game as opposed to the first game. There are fewer bugs in this game and the enemy A.I. has improved a lot.
Everything from the text box to the game menu has been reworked and improved. The game developers really listened to critics and fans and made this game a much better version of the first Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku game.
Gameplay Length
The game is far longer than the first game. Now, you have about 25 hours+ of gameplay as opposed to the 5 hours of gameplay, the first game had. Now you have more side quests than the second game. The side quests also contain a wider variety of things to do.

Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II is a lovely upgrade from the mediocre offering that the first game was. A lot of things have been polished and you will enjoy this game regardless of if you are a Dragon Ball Z fan or not. The game also does a good job of showcasing familiar elements from the game.
